If you are in Amsterdam, pass by Coffeeshop Republiek or Coffeeshop The Loft as my paintings are now exhibited in these two beautiful locations.
During the long last winter, after dreaming about hot summer days for a while, I got myself an infrared filter for my DSLR camera, this being the filter to shoot with in the middle of a sunny day. It shows a different side of the reality that we see and gives an eerie perspective over the world.
I find it a very interesting photographic experience, as I had to use long exposure times during the day and I learned better the manual focus on my camera. Also, there is an entire journey in the post production, as I’ve discovered. The raw picture can be processed and the tones changed, especially in the red channel.
I fell in love with this technique though and I will post my favourite pictures below. Nevertheless, I am still discovering and playing with this filter and I will be updating the blog post accordingly. I am curious to hear your opinion on this technique and I would appreciate constructive feedback.
Here I am, writing after the opening of my first art exhibition. I want to thank all the people who showed up and who supported me so far, it was good to see all of you before I head out for the summer holiday
Prior to getting to the art gallery coffeeshop in Amsterdam, I have to admit I was a little bit nervous but once I met with their art curator, Irina ( the first other Irina that I meet in Amsterdam 🙂 ) all the worries went away. We finished placing all the paintings very fast and I was happy to see that my hanging systems we’re proper.
By 5 o’clock, everything was in place, including lekker vegan treats provided by Siberie ❤ and friends started arriving. And for a few hours we enjoyed the gezellig atmosphere of Siberie, their tea selection and bubbly apple juice because there we couldn’t serve alcohol.
I have exhibited 11 paintings here, all of them painted in the last year, some of them from 2017 and some finished quite recently. Going further on my timeline, I have started using more materials, I have added some recycled materials and some mixed-media elements, giving my paintings more dimension.
The best view is live if you go by Siberie @Brouwersgracht 11, 1015 GA Amsterdam, Netherlands. They’re open every day!
Hello! I have the pleasure to invite you, one year after I started painting, to my first exhibition in Amsterdam at the beginning of this beautiful summer.
Come join me at the exhibition’s opening on the 3rd of May, at 5 o’clock in the afternoon when we will get a chance to discuss my direction in painting and any other curiosities. I have entitled the exhibition “Intense dreams” because painting as a medium has always been close to my heart and because my paintings remind me of surreal places I have visited in my dreams.
The exhibition will be hosted by the amazing Siberie, beautiful location in the heart of Amsterdam. Situated on a quiet canal in the center of the city, Siberie is a place that you must visit for the chill and friendly atmosphere and for the chance to discover international artists as their walls are always full of art. Check out also the sisters de Republiek, de Supermarkt, Espresso and Loft. You can find more information at www.thecoffeeshops.com
